This is a diptych which showcases the first photo my parents received of me and my finding advertisement in the local newspaper in the city I was born in. After a baby was put in the orphanage, the orphanages would post finding ads in the newspaper to alert anyone who may have a missing child, however, this was all done for show. These ads would give a description of the baby, what they were wearing, and where they were found. All these babies were abandoned due to the One Child Policy. Families often abandon an accidental second child which they could not afford, any child with a disability, or a daughter. They would do so to avoid the large fees that came with having multiple children but they would also do so, so they could try again for a more valuable son. In my finding ad, out of 40or so babies listed, only one is a boy.

I was born on May 15, 2003 (2023) - 11”x 15”. Serigraphy.
